Aight so boom… I’m Maddison Adimora 🙋🏾♀️, founder of iMINDS Counseling & Wellness, PLLC. For starters... I prefer the term founder, as "owner” seems very B.S. (ya know, Before Slavery-ish). So yea... what can I say, I’m a Black ✊🏾therapist. No not a unicorn🦄, just a black psychotherapist looking to help people heal.
Just as the name of this business is thoughtful, I want you to know that many hours, countless, unbillable hours, were spent making this thought become an idea, to finally a reality. I envision iMINDS joining the many many many many readily available resources for clinicians and persons of color to find a healthy starting place within their journey of healing (see... there’s my sarcasm showing up again 🤦🏾♀️). In all honesty, I just want there to be a safe space 🛋 for Black people & persons of color, like myself, to find resources like bomb, dope, and #BlackAF therapists. In my short-lived, professional career as a psychotherapist, it took a lot of bobbing, weaving, networking, and underground railroading for me to get to a place where I still feel uncertain, and that’s okay because I’m on my own spiritual quest, "and that’s also my business.” I loves ❤️ me some Tabitha Brown. Y’all should go look her up if you wanna eat clean, vegan, or just get a dose of goodness in the world. (And if you're reading this, "Hey Auntie Tab 🙋🏾♀️).
Anywho, I am a forward-thinker and a reach-behinder* [“Can I coin that phrase? 🤔"]. Meaning I want to have all the knowledge that I gain on my journey readily available for my own personal use, as well as, at the disposal of my peers coming up behind me and persons seeking healing from professionals of color. It’s enough #blackgirlmagic and #blackboyjoy for me to want let everyone in on the secret and share some shine.
